bearcat_copy.jpgIt is my pleasure to welcome you to Crystal River Middle School 8th Grade American History. My philosophy is based on a positive approach to learning and discipline including positive teacher, student, and parent involvement.

I am a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. I am currently certified in both Elementary Education and 5th -9th Grade Social Sciences. This is my 15th year teaching, with this being my 12th year here at CRMS!!

Students are required to write their weekly assignments, every Monday, into their agenda. Agendas are an excellent way of communication between parents and teachers as well as to keep students on track with their daily and weekly assignments. Although homework is not common, each student will have access to an interactive workbook that goes with our American History textbook. The workbooks will stay in the classroom, but students that are absent, or need extra time, are welcome to take a workbook home to help keep up with any missed or unfinished assignments.
Extra credit is always accepted and encouraged for those that are looking to improve their grade! Extra credit can be in many forms such as power points, projects, posters, reports, etc. (see below). Extra credit is not intended to replace daily effort in class, but to reinforce 8th grade American History benchmarks. Please include a brief explanation of how your extra credit applies to these standards.
We have a school Facebook page titled "Crystal River Middle School" where you can keep up with updates school wide, and a class Facebook page titled "Ms. Nicholas/8th Grade American History." The Facebook web address for our class page is www.facebook.com/nicholas.american.history. Please like our page so you can keep up with the latest assignments, activities, and upcoming events in our classroom.

I look forward to a great year with you!! Please feel free to email any questions you may have regarding assignments, grade updates, or any other questions you may have.
Ms. Nicholas
